I've tried SketchUp, Misfit Model 3D and Blender. The issues I experienced
ranged between incompatibility in formats, constraints in the modeling
environment and flat out confusion.

Here's the workflow that works for me now:

Maya: Create model, where 1 unit = 1 pixel, and where objects are set to be
single-sided to ensure better rendering in Flash
OpenCollada for Maya: Export to DAE file, triangulation enabled
Away3D (of course): Embed DAE and material (I use only one map per model) for
ease of use and user experience
FlashDevelop: Only the best IDE, ever

I'm asking for input on what is working for people here:

* Modeling/Animation: 3DS Max? Blender? Maya? Milkshape? Something
else?
* Import format: Collada? MD2? OBJ? Something else?
* IDE: Flash? FlashDevelop? Flex? Something else?

The reason that I'm asking is that I'm trying to get started in Away3D
after developing in Flash/AS, 3DS Max, and Shockwave3D. One of the
big problems that I had to solve when I started with Shockwave3D was
choosing and setting up the right pipeline, and it ended up costing me
a lot of time and effort to get it right. BTW, that ended up being
3DS Max and Director 11.5.

So this time, as I climb this curve yet again, I'm asking for
directions. What works for you?

thanks,

Robert
