So let me say a) I apologize for being slow to respond, b) I'm still in Montreal today but am back tomorrow - can we plan to hash the details of the change out then? Meet on IRC at 1PM EST, say? And c) I'm mostly in favor of your changes, I just want to make sure that they fit with the future evolution of the header code.
As Tom said, we are really psyched you're interested in Axis, you clearly have some good ideas, and I for one would love to see you become a committer if you're interested - you've clearly got the moxie.
