Paul G.,
1. On "Passaportes" dob's are only incidental to your search. As Cheri
indicated, you are looking for an unspecific date prior to your ancestor's
departure; that can be a short time previous to the date of departure, or, it
can be considerably earlier - due to complications relating to family, such as
health, finances.

2. Do you have the correct name your ancestor registered under? Azorians were
notorious for using names other than those which may have appeared on legal
documents. Sometimes that was due to illiteracy, other times, because they just
reversed surnames [father, mother, grandparent, etc] - still others because
they used nicknames (alcunhas). Your ancestor's name, itself, could have been
recorded wrong ...e.g. Manuel [Bernardo] da Silva, could have been recorded as
Manuel Bernardo, Manuel Silva, Manuel Bernardo de Mello, or, Manuel Mello.

3. What does the date signify - Birth, or Baptism? If you are looking for
civil info [passports], the Baptism date, or, the name of the Church, should
not be part of the search keywords; also, I note that the name of the place of
one of your ancestors' birth, is incorrectly spelled, it should be [Agua
Retorta]. Sometimes the smallest details can thwart your efforts. Hope this
info helps.
