You do have your freguesia though. You are able to research going back in time in the Azores. I know it's annoying missing a piece on your immigrant ancestor. I was missing both the departure and the arrival of my great-grandfather. For about 10 years. It took me 10 years to piece it together. Well, not really. I backburnered it for 10 years, and then took another stab at it and was able to piece both ends together.
