Sean,

I'm going to assume that the typo in 1944 should be 1844. Or I hope.

The NEPS site has wrong information on this family. They have probably
blended 2 different people of the same name.

1784 Francisco Leal da Costa born
1788 Maria Felicia de Jesus born
1808 Francisco & Maria marry
1809 Francisco's 2nd wife, Maria Tomasia is born
1821 or later, daughter of Francisco and MARIA FELICIA, Ana Maria Pereira
is born
1831 son of Francisco and MARIA FELICIA, Antonio Leal da Costa marries
(Francisco would be way older than sister Ana Maria born 1821 or later)
1840s son of Francisco and MARIA FELICIA, Jose Leal da Costa marries (guess
based on his kids' birth). Also, this Jose would be around the age of Ana
Maria, I would think).
1844 MARIA FELICIA dies
1846 son of Francisco and MARIA TOMASIA is born

When you put events in your genealogy program, you can see a timeline for
events. You'll be able to see gaps or mistakes.

I see that there are not enough kids for Francisco & Maria Felicia. They
marry in 1808 and they think a kid is born in 1821 or later? Where are all
the kids? The NEPS site may not have recorded the babies that did not reach
adulthood. Also, if it is the same Francisco, he married a woman the age of
his kids.

There are 3 different locations that Francisco Leal da Costa is in. It
seems like too much moving around. It's covering almost half the island of
Faial.

I would use caution with the information from NEPS on this family. Go back
to the actual records and try to verify everything. Work with what you know
going BACK in time. Stay in one freguesia until you can find no more or
until a records states a different freguesia.
