I am sorry Phil, you were probably too busy, because every single one of
the six 7.9.x BETA releases were announced both on the users list and
the devel list and the source code was released on the web site.

It is a pity that version 7.9.x was not tested during the something like
2 months it was in beta tests. It is unpleasant for me and other users
to all of a sudden have a number of trivial problems reported in the 3rd
official release rather than during beta testing. So be it.
Kern - I'd have tested 7.9.x if I'd seen a release notification for it.
But I didn't see any such notification on the lists.
