Hello,

I should have mentioned that the first BETA release version 7.9.0 was released on 23 May 2017 the sixth BETA release of 7.9.5 was made on 17 June 2017.

If I remember correctly, the only person besides me who ran regression tests during the Beta period was Dan Langille (thanks Dan) for FreeBSD, and I fixed every single one of the problems that Dan uncovered. Note there was at least one other user that tried the beta version and reported that it had fixed some long standing bugs in 7.4.x that he was having.

I will make one more release 9.0.3 probably Sunday evening 6 August (possibly Monday) and then will leave for vacation on 8 August and will be back 26 August.

Best regards,

Kern

Phil,

I am sorry Phil, you were probably too busy, because every single one of the six 7.9.x BETA releases were announced both on the users list and the devel list and the source code was released on the web site.

Hello Martin,

I can confirm that I introduced a bug in 9.0.0 and that adding slot=0
should work around the problem. Thanks for the suggestion.

It was not picked up because of: 1. see below ... 2. most people have
autochangers today.

For Phil:

It is a pity that version 7.9.x was not tested during the something like
2 months it was in beta tests. It is unpleasant for me and other users
to all of a sudden have a number of trivial problems reported in the 3rd
official release rather than during beta testing. So be it.
Kern - I'd have tested 7.9.x if I'd seen a release notification for it.
But I didn't see any such notification on the lists.
