1255. First You Must Select One

"As for the question regarding marriage under the Law of God: first thou must
choose one who is pleasing to thee, and then the matter is subject to the
consent of father and mother. Before thou makest thy choice, they have no right
to interfere."

(Compilations, Lights of Guidance, p. 375)
and again, the time arrow that susanmaneck noted in para 65:

It hath been laid down in the Bayan that marriage
is dependent upon the consent of both parties. Desiring
to establish love, unity and harmony amidst Our
servants, We have conditioned it, once the couple's
wish is known, upon the permission of their parents,
lest enmity and rancour should arise amongst them.
And in this We have yet other purposes. Thus hath
Our commandment been ordained.

        (Baha'u'llah, The Kitab-i-Aqdas, p. 41)
which may be reduced to "parents" entering >>after<< "couple's wish".
so, a male and a female, each thru the the threshhold into their 16th year
after leaving the matrix (as i understand the infalllible Guardian read the
time), wish to wed, and >then< executing their wish is "conditioned on"
consent, not approval of parents.
i spose a construct could be gotten from #65 that a male and a female might
have no other wish than to do what their parents had wanted, but that makes
rather a hash of "when wish; then permission y/n " a non-statement, as well as
the lG about being responsible for for ur own life...however it is worded.
if one takes the view that the Master is Infallible at harmonising this kind
of cognitive dissonance, the construct collapses, like bubbles of foam reaching
the shore.
all of which seems to make my original point that there are laws that people
are too immature to live with, and laws people are too immature to live without
make even more sense.
