I expect that with most apps, I will move to the App Store when they
release their next major version, assuming that the "upgrade price"
difference (if there is one) isn't over my yet-to-be-measured "ouch"
factor…

But you're right… almost every app I use nowadays will offer to check
for updates… and I notice with iOS that I tend to have a lot of
updates for apps I don't use, which is a bit of a waste of time to
update them.
