At my old company I made it a policy that we would not allow personal BlackBerrys. Many employees wanted to buy their own because they wanted the latest and greatest and I turned many away. A few employees weren't happy with it, but it helped keep track of devices and I didn't have to worry about if someone left the company removing that BB from the system or removing an IT policy.
