the executable for the scanner is scanner.pl, which resides in the same
location as slimserver.pl. If you can rsh to your slimserver box, you
can run the scanner with the same command line arguments as windows:

scanner.pl --debug artwork --wipe /path/to/music

Alternatively, you can go into the web interface, server
settings->debugging and set artwork and scan.import to DEBUG. Start a
new scan, then once it's completed, get the scanner.log file from the
slimserver box (location can vary, maybe /var/log or $bin/logs).

Another thing that I don't see having been asked already is do you see
the artwork if you go to the track listing view for that album? If so,
it may be due to a limitation with the library used to shrink the
artwork to thumbnail size, as opposed to a problem with
finding/grabbing the artwork.

Check for an ARTISTSORT tag.
