The artists listed are controlled by the 'Group compilations' option - either I see only those with full Christmas albums or I see all track artists that appear on even one single Christmas track. With Group compilations enabled, you get only those artists with full albums, plus there's a Various Artists link. Click on VA link and you see only VA Christmas albums. Click the All Albums link and you see exactly the same thing. The 'Various Artists' is treated as if it is one particular artist within the library. If you're NOT FILTERING, then YES, that's the intent. I still don't understand why you're not using filtering. Even with filtering enabled you can navigate to all of an artist's albums by clicking on the artist name in a track listing.
