When you > browse by artist or by album then there will be no filtering. Maybe we're miscommunicating on browse/filter. When I said I wasn't filtering I meant that I had the setting referred to above set _not_ to "filter genres at the album and track level". But I am browsing by genres, as in Music Library > Genres > Holiday. Is that clearer? So, after I select Music Library > Genres > Holiday, I can scroll through a list of artists who have albums with tracks that have [Genre=Holiday]. And because of my setting shown above, if I 'right arrow' on an artist, I get a list of all of their albums, both those with holiday tracks and those without. Like so: Music Library +-> Genres +---> Holiday +-----> The Burns Sisters +--------> Tradition: Holiday Songs Old & New (holiday) +-----> Bruce Cockburn +--------> Anything Anytime Anywhere (not holiday) +--------> Christmas (yes holiday) +--------> Dancing in the Dragon's Jaws (not holiday) +-----> The Tallis Scholars +--------> Christmas with The Tallis Scholars (holiday) +--------> The Complete English Anthems (not holiday) +-----> All Albums +--------> All 300+ albums in my library +-----> Various Artists +--------> All 30+ compilation albums in my library And because I'm browsing in the Holiday genre, the only artists that are listed are those that have a track somewhere in my library with [Genre=Holiday]. With two big exceptions. "All Albums" shows exactly what it says: all albums in my library. In other words, "All Albums" acts just as if I had gone Music Library > Albums, and completely ignores the fact that I got there via Genres > Holiday. Similarly, Various Artists shows all my compilation albums, as if I had gone Music Library > Artists > Various Artists. Now if I change the setting to what you have, "Only show tracks or albums matching the selected genre for an artist" I get the expected behavior, ie, exactly what you're getting. All of the albums indicated above as (not holiday) are no longer displayed. And the big thing is that Genres > Holiday > Various Artists shows only those VA albums with holiday tracks. And Genres > Holiday > All Albums shows only those albums with holiday tracks (including VA albums). In brief, when set to "Show any tracks and albums for an artist" SC works as it should for everything *except* All Albums and Various Artists. For AA and VA, it completely forgets that you are browsing within a genre. And it happens for all genres, unless (a) there is only one non-VA album in the genre, in which case "All Albums" and "Various Artists" are not listed, or (b) there are no VA albums in that genre (although the AA problem persists). Sorry for the long-winded post, but obviously I wasn't getting my point across earlier. I'll update to the latest nightly to see if this has gone away, but I'd appreciate it if someone would try changing the "Filter genres at the album & track level" setting and see if they get the same results.
