And given the number of responses along the lines of "why wouldn't you want filtering on?" I have to wonder why the option exists at all.
I happened to try turning it off a month or so ago and got what seemed like incorrect behavior, so I reported it. I'm currently away from my music library, but will try it tonight or tomorrow to see if I can reproduce the behavior I was getting in December, which Andy can't reproduce. Jim, you may have nailed it with the comment about "-The 'Various Artists' is treated as if it is one particular artist within the library.-" I had been thinking that SC would act more cleverly than that, by looking at the artist tags on the tracks within "Various Artists."
