No, the current implementation doesn't suck. The implementation is
doing exactly what it was set out/designed to do. It may not be how
you would like to visualise your library. It may not be totally
flexible, but it is intuitive and works. There are loads of
inexperienced users who just pick it straight up and use. They don't
have to worry about how to filter/sort.

It was predominantly designed to support the hardware players. The
fact that there is a way of visualising your library on a desktop PC
through the web UI is a bonus.

Okay, more flexibility would be lovely. But, Logitech have shown no
interest in improving the UI to be more flexible, and in effect have a
higher maintenance cost. You are not interested in paying more money
for such functionality and think you should just get it for free for
some reason. It's unlikely to happen.

But, because of the the flexibility of the design, it HAS been possible
to enhance functionality through plugins. That has been achieved in the
form of Erland's wonderful plugins, predominantly CustomBrowse. You
ought to give it a try instead of moaning about "it doesn't do this,
that or the other". Erland has asked you to try something because he
thinks it roughly achieves what you want (albeit textual, rather than a
nice table). If you were to try it, and comment on how it could be made
better, maybe third-party support would continue to make alternative
solutions that would do what you want. But all I ever hear are
childish whinges...

Well, I've had the totally opposite experience. Maybe it's the way you
present it to them.

Yep - it wasn't designed as a free package for people who don't want to
buy hardware players. It was predominantly created to support
text-based 2-line hardware players, and was extended.

Same goes for iTunes, which love it or loathe it is popular, but mainly
only for people who own iPods.
