>Doesn't that simply make the BAND tag work as ALBUMARTIST? Maybe I'm >missing something. > No, you can have different bands on different tracks. e.g. extending my previous example, you could have an album by "Jimmy Page" and "Robert Plant", but one track features a guest "John Paul Jones". The album artist could then be set to "Page & Plant", with different artists and band aliases for each track. The album artist always overrules when listing "<album> by <artist>", even if "list albums by band" is chosen.
>> (b) There can be multiple album artists for an album > >That doesn't pose a problem. If you're listing albums and the album has >two ALBUMARTISTs, it would be displayed something like: > >No Quarter >1994 >Jimmy Page, Robert Plant > >and in the browse Album Artists list, both individual names would >appear. I doubt if this behavior is much different than already exists. Yes, I mean it would have to be considered when setting album artist in the scanner, that it would be a link table to artists, not necessarily a single album artist per album. _______________________________________________ beta mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/beta
