I wonder if you could offer a quick summary Michael of the current state of this, and what changes are in progress?
I'm a little confused over some things I'm seeing - it could be work in progress, or a bug. I've pulled latest 7.9 from git, and deleted by prefs file to ensure there's no old prefs causing issues. "Album Artists" is showing too many artists. If an album is detected to be a compilation and assigns album artist "Various Artists", I think the scanner currently creates Artist roles for each track, rather than Track Artist roles, whereas if an Album Artist is directly assigned to the tracks, then the scanner would create Track Artists? Album Artists > Various Artists still shows all compilation albums, not only albums by artist "Various Artist" (e.g. I found one album by "Various", listed under the artist "Various" but also under "Various Artists" as it is tagged as a compilation). I don't think this browse method should have any logic to look for compilations now, only artists + album artists. The Additional Browse Modes settings page has the pre-configured modes that can be enabled/disabled, but I can't see Artists, All Artists, Album Artists or Albums in this list, irrespective of the "Browse Artists" choice on the My Music setting page. Should they be? At some point whilst changing options, all three Composer, Conductor and Band/Orchestra checkboxes became ticked, and then later all were unticked. I usually only have Composer and Band ticked.
