1) I sent the email for beta testing and never heard anything back. 2) For many uses, it's irrelevant. Thousands of sites, including blogs, link to game descriptions by linking to BGG. The main BGG site being down means all those links lead nowhere useful. BGG's game pages are a resource on the web for games just like wikipedia is for everything else, so having them down for significant periods impacts huge numbers of people.
