Wow a lot of good support here. I had to do the same thing with my
mom, made some hard moves (like moving 1,300 mile to care for her at
home) but I had to put her in a nursing home also. We could not care
for her either she had dementia and MS in its final, horrible stages.
She asked to come home almost every day when I visited her. I talked
to the Dr.s about this and they told me that a lot of people in
nursing homes with the dementia remember that EVERYTHING WAS GREAT
WHEN THEY LIVED AT HOME,so that is where they want to be, and in their
mind everything will be fine if they can get Back Home.

My mom had not been able to drive for 10 years or walk for 4 years
before she went into the nursing home, but when we had our talks about
going home she was positive that she could care for herself and walk
and drive (if we would giver her car keys back) It was these
discussions that got me talking with the Dr's asking "why does she
belive that she can do this at home when EVERYTHING from going to the
bathroom to eating needs to be done with assistance and they told me
about the "If I am home I will be OK" Finding this out for me made a
difference in understanding moms desires to go home and it made it a
little easier.

Stay well, Stay strong, and keep on visiting mom, it is great that you
can bring her home with you and you choose to do so!
