I want to thank everyone who has replied to my question. I have to say I find the responses to be very helpful. I am a bit surprised by both the number of responses as well as the obvious thought put into them.
I have a small theory that those who enjoy board games over computer games by nature are a more sociable lot. There are always exceptions, but I've been online since 1983, and this has been one of the most overwhelmingly positive responses I've seen to a newbie question. A few of you asked "what sort of games do you enjoy." There comes my life-long problem. The answer is most, with the excecption of party games such as "Cranium" or anything else that might require me to pantomime an urangatang wielding a crayon as a bazooka. However I have a dearth of like-minded family or friends. I've found that the "better" games (such as Catan, Carcassonne, Ticket) seem to appeal better to the masses than my hardcore favorties such as chess, Othello, etc. In these games I've found a wonderful middle ground which has brought the aformentioned social aspect into play. After all, in life, in the end, everything is really about the people. --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "BGG Down" group.
