Honestly, some of the games you've listed will be like a different
world to you if the Big 3 are the only exposure.  My game group sticks
to mid range games that have elegant rules and good strategy, but
aren't too brain burny.  Keeping this in mind I would recommend El
Grande, Puerto Rico, Agricola, Arkadia, Kingsburg, and Pillars Of The
Earth as fitting a good "next step."  All of those games don't spend a
lot of time getting to the meat of the game, and once you get through
the first few turns the game clicks along nicely.  I would avoid T&E
for sure, and Arkham isn't something you'd want to jump into right
away either.  Both games might give you moments of frustration as the
rules aren't written very well for either game.  Unless you have a
friend who's familiar of course!
