The drawer in the editor is gone, and replaced by a thumbnail + Quick Look 
capability.  You might want to check out the editor window in a recent nightly 
build.

I agree that flexibility can be helpful, but it does lead to feature bloat 
(good luck finding the right preference!).  If we could cut it down to 3 and 
use a segmented control to switch between them like Finder's icon/column/list 
view, we could ditch some prefs, which is one of my favorite things to do :).
