I have always included the tarball in the buildsize.  The user clicks on 
a page in the book and immediately knows how much disk space is required 
to download, build, and install in place.  If I'm wrong, at least it's 
only a few packages now days. :-)  Oh as far as Mesa instructions, the 
changes look good to me.  I certainly won't be sorry to see the findnsed 
go.  That carried over from the previous version(s) where /usr/X11R6 was 
all over the source tree.  I don't remember seeing EXTRA_LIB_PATH in 
there at that time, but I could easily have missed it.
