I'd suggest NVDA for systems 2000 XP or Vista. It works great in a pinch
with out installing anything at all.

narator is not the best of screen readers out there so if you were to view a
dialogue or try and view something it does not work.

Hi Aiden,

I just re-read your message, and just realized what you were trying to do.

Basically, and let me know if I've got this right or not, you want to
connect to your home computer from the computer that has no speech, at which
point you're going to diagnose any problems they may have?

If that's the case, you'll be able to use the speech on your own computer at
home, without having to install any screen readers on your family's
computer.

You can even use Narrator to start the remote access software, and have your
speech take over once the two computers are connected.

As I stated in my last message, I'm not sure whether the remote access
software that comes with Windows is sophisticated enough to allow you to
switch between the two systems, but I do know that once that checkbox is
checked to allow sound through the connection, you will essentially be
viewing your computer via theirs, complete with speech and everything.

I would just make sure that your computer is left on, as obviously you can
not boot up your computer remotely. Smile.

In any case, I think this seems to be the program you want. Accessible,
readily available, and more importantly, free.

Victor
