I'm a little confused. If Narrator already worked when you turned on your
new computer for the first time, wouldn't that indicate that Windows was
already completely installed? Don't all new computers come with the OS
ready to go? It seems to me that the only reason to installWindows on a new
computer would be to install a different version than the preinstalled
version, like for example, installing XP on a new machine equipped with
Vista. But it sounds like installing Windows is not for the technically
challenged or faint of heart like me.

Well in my case. I bought a new computer. So I don't know how much of it
was installed. But I just hit Window+U and everything worked well. I
would imagine usually when you insert a CD, it starts to install itself,
but if you are lording in Windows I would get some sighted assistance.

I'm just curious. You said you installed Windows yourself. Exactly what
happens when you load the installation CD in the DVD drive? Does
Narrator start talking right away? Did you have sighted assistance? I
have been under the impression that you either need sighted assistance to
install Windows or else perform an unattended installation.

Does anyone know if Narrator is available at any point during a Windows
7
install? I thought I heard that Narrator could be turned on about half
way
through a Vista install using Windows + u. Perhaps pressing Alt + n
would
be necessary as well? I have not installed either, so I have no
personal
experience.
