Appreciate all your help. Thanks.

do you know If there is a way to do a repair for the program itself?

Hi Marie,

Try this.

First check and make sure that Windows XP is the choice in control panel/
display/themes page.
2. If not, arrow to it, tab to apply and press enter.
3. Go the desktop page and make sure that bliss is selected and that the
stretch position is selected.
4. Then go to the screen saver and make sure none is selected.
5. Then the appearance page and make sure windows classic buttons and
windows standard for colors are selected.
6. Remember to apply changes made in each tab and when you are done tab to
okay to save all the changes. These steps are for XP users. Hope this
helps.
Mike

Thanks to all, Mike, Pete and Rick, I've tried all your suggestions and
unfortunately, the messages are still being marked as unread. I've even
gone
through all the verbosity settings, the jaws configuration settings and
all
the other menus I could think of.
Could I impose on you for any other suggestions?
 Thanks again. Marie
