That is the beauty of MSE. You do not need any instructions. Unless you
want to change the time or frequency of complete scans, it stays out of the
way. If it finds a virus, it will notify you with an easy to read,
accessible dialog. Now you can concentrate on your dangerous actions as a
user rather than the mechanics of configuring security software.

i did what you both said and it was indeed set to plain text
i took the check out and went to apply followed by ok
i tried 4 emails that had this link facility but only 1 was able to
go
straight to internet explorer
no idea why the others did not respond maybe they were sent in plain
text
or
something i know not reason where or why
perhaps someone can shed light on why only 1 of them worked
