Not sure, but it's possible there's another shortcut for word somewhere
else, with a different name, and they keyboard shortcut assigned to it - as
in, possibly in root of C: drive or something.
To look for a shortcut with word in the name, you can go to windows
explorer, with the windows key + E keystroke, highlight local drive C: -
generally just one down arrow, hit Ctrl + F for search, tab to all files and
folders, and hit space bar, and in all or part of file name field, type in:
*word*.lnk
Then hit alt + R to start searching, and tab over to file/result listing,
and give it a bit of time to complete search. Then depending on how many
results are returned, you can arrow up and down to look for shortcuts to
word etc., and look at their properties - you should find the start menu and
desktop shortcuts there, among others.
Also just possible the shortcut key is being handled in some other way as
well, but anyway...
Stay well

Subject: Re: [Blind-Computing] reassigning a hotkey stroke
I don't have a short cut on the desktop. Here is what I did: control
escape for the start minue, p for programs, m for microsoft office
sub-minue, arrowed up twice to outlook 2003, applications key arrowed up to
propertys and hit inter, tab once to shortcut key where it said none. I
than tried control shift o. It keeps opening word because that was my word
key stroke but I have successfuly changed that to control shift w. So you
could say my word has to short cut key strokes. Am I missing something or
did I not do something correctly? Thanks Heather
