Hi.
Have you tried unplugging the actual USB hub from your computer and then
plugging it back in? Maybe if it rerecognizes the actual hub things may
work properly.

Just a thought ...

Subject: [Blind-Computing] what to do when USB devices won't recognize

I bought a 2tb Western Digital external hard drive yesterday. I had another
one, but I bought a second one for backup purposes. I had it connected to
the computer via a USB hub, and the old one connected to the back of the
computer. I was copying files from one to the other.
The folder was quite large so it was taking a very long time. People started
doing work outside my house so I then plugged my USB headphones into the
hub. I have had problems with this hub ever since I got it in that often
when you plug more than one device into it, it tends to not recognize the
new device. Of course I couldn't disconnect the hub, so I disconnected the
headphones, figuring I'd just turn up my speakers since it was loud outside.
Unfortunately, unplugging the headphones had an adverse effect. It also
somehow stopped recognizing the external that I was copying files to. Now I
can't get it to recognize the drive at all. Once, when I plugged it in, it
said I needed to format the drive to continue, but I hit cancel and
restarted the computer, hoping that it would just recognize again as I had a
similar problem before and that fixed it. But no--no matter where I plug it
into the computer now, it says the device has malfunctioned and Windows does
not recognize it. I then tried disabling and reenabling the driver, but no
go.
I feel so stupid right about now, if I hadn't plugged in my headphones I
wouldn't have broken my new device. I seriously hope there's a way to fix
this because I didn't buy it to break it if you know what I mean. I'm
running Vista Home Premium if that makes a difference.
Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.
