The mud uses the MSP (mud sound protocol).  The way this works is that the mud stores the sounds on a web site, then when the client is used, if it too supports the mud sound protocol, then it tells the mud this when it loads.  The mud then sends additional information to the client that you won't see during regular mudding sessions or on clients that don't support msp.  These additional pieces of information tell the client what wav file to lay, and when to play it.  They also tell the client whether or not to repeat the sound, and how many times to repeat the sound. The client then follows the instructions, playing the sound as per request.  If the client does not have the file in question, then it will go to the web site, and download the sound, this is why the first time the client plays a sound, it may be delayed a bit, because it needs to go get the sound before it can play it. Afterwords though, the client will already have the sound, so additional requests to play the sound will happen immediately without any pauses.  That's pretty much all there is to the Mud Sound Protocol.  The mud client I'm writing will handle the msp, as well as MCP (mud Control Protocol), but since it's a project I'm working on when the mood strikes, and not as a money making deal, there's no telling if/when it will be completed.

In any case, I hope this helps explain how the sound works on alter aeon and other muds that support the mud sound protocol.

HI,
You will need to create a new world.

Note that mush z was made specifically for alter aeon so many things will
not work on other muds. you will just have to experiment a bit to see what
does, and does not, work.

Also as far as i understand it, the mud itself does not have sounds. it
sends a specific signal or string back to the client. The client then acts
upon that string to produce a sound. so the sound is from the client, not
the mud.

Hello.
I was wondering what other muds besides Alter Aeon have music and sound
effects?
How do you add muds to Mush-z?

Thanks.
