Tom: Here are my immediate thoughts on the sounds in Monty: Maybe there could be some different amount of echo in each level to indicate the size and to, sort of, cue you in to which level you are exploring. There probably might be some dirt in some of the first levels, sand in the middle ones, and stone as you go deeper into the caverns. Ladders may have been constructed of rope, but there are already ropes to climb, so wood could be used for ladder material to distinguish a ladder from a rope. How about giving each acid pit a different amount of bubble or a deeper bubbling sound to distinguish them from one another so that you would know that you are between 2 of them?
