Today I took some time off since my son is here to drive a couple days yet.
I had called lowes and some other places about water saver johns. Lowes
was almost useless in there information, at least the person I talked to
anyway. Anyway off to the plumbing supply outlet. Sat on all the johns and
ended up between the luxury comfort for 160 or the next one less comfortable
for 350. Luxury comfort and he dropped the price 30 bucks. Seals and all that
was needed including the seat for less than 150. It sits 17 inches high
compared to the 350 buck model at 16 inches and much higher than the 90 dollar
model at 14 inches high. This new water saver toilet uses a 1.4 gallons tank.
That means that this john only holds one fifth the water of the old toilet I
have in the basement.
I got some push on pex fittings today to go directly from one half inch
copper pipe to one half inch pex tube. I made a mistake about not using them
more than once. They push on and can not be pulled off without a little tool
and can be used again. The pipe and tubing need to be clean and burr free so a
pipe cutter is required and no saw offs. The fittings cost me almost 6 bucks
each. Not a bad price for tool-less fittings that take 90 psi and a couple
seconds to put into place. Just push the pipes into the fittings till they
click.
