Hi,

Thought that I will ask the experts in the list (Brett) for guidance as to
what is really needed to be done to correct this this problem.
I have taken the car to the dealership to have them fix it,\ but it is still
there but not as often currently. Do not want the Airbag to deploy when it
is not needed and wanted to know that the Airbag will deploy should I really
needed it (knock on wood).

Car : E46 330i 4Dr Sedan, Prem Pkg, Sport Pkg, 6 Speed, Canadian Spec.
with 3 Spoke Multi-functional Sport Steering Wheel.
MFG : 04/2003
VIN : KM04224

As written on the work order:
Complian : Diag and report on Clicking Noise when turning steering wheel.
Cause : SRS Slip Ring Noisy
Correction : Replace SRS Slip Ring
Dealer have replaced Qty = 1, PN# 61-31-8-379-091, Mont Remsta @ Cdn $169
Each.

Thanks.

Is there a color code chart for BMW springs (specifically E46) somewhere out
there?

When I was rebuilding the engine in my 3.0CS I found that the front
of the camshaft was broken where it drives the distributor. I called
Michel to find out how expensive a cam would be. He said that he had
a replacement camshaft nut that included the distributor drive. That
and other parts that I bought from him saved me $$$.

I miss the Margofests, the wise parts advice, and the good deals.

Gruppe,

After returning from vacation I find I'm in need of this stuff. My
tube of gummi pflege is MIA and I was wondering if there was a
substitute that may be readily available in parts stores. I know it
won't be as good but I have to do something about these frozen doors,
poor E39 had about 10 inches of snow and ice piled up on it after two
weeks. :-/

Thanks,

Carlos

What's the point of the X6? In the model space of the X's it just doesn't
seem to fit. If it's an apparent reponse to the Mercedes R, why bother? Do
they even sell any "R's"? When was the last time you even saw one?
Are we heading to model bloat based on some illogical marketing perception?

least the R-class has some people-moving pretensions (there are lots

I test-drove the R. It's pretty damned good. And with the diesel
motor it gets 21/28 mpg. Pretty hard to beat in that class.

We ended up buying an '06 Cayenne S instead, though. :)

I would have bought the BMW Vwhatever now, if they had made it 15
years ago. The MB Rwhatever looks like a reasonable alternative, in
15 years when used examples come into my price range. So our family
hauler is a Eurovan. But in fifteen years I won't need a family
hauler any more, and the Mrs. and I will be empty-nesting in an M
Coupe or a Kxx00LT.

It's not a direct response to the Mercedes R. BMW had another
vehicle to compete with the R (more of a luxury people mover), but
reportedly dropped it. The press claims the R is not doing well worldwide.

It's a do everything vehicle, kind of like an all-season tire. Part
"go-anywhere", part coupe, part luxury vehicle. Maybe it's a luxury Subaru.

Or, maybe with its hatchback, it's a expensive (starting at about
$60,000) replacement for the 318ti.

I've been wondering the same thing. I've got an X5, and while I like it very
much, it does annoy me that it has even less interior space than a 5 series
wagon. No offense, but I can't see myself driving a wagon. The X6 is even
smaller.
