i said FSDO :)

yep. low cost is primary.

the usual registration fee is all. it has always been $85 but there is
no official price. we did have a discussion on that and rasiing it to
say $100 might be possible if our proposal needs it. a $15 increase
after 7 years isn't much. but that is only if needed.
anyhow, the first thing to be done is to find a school where we can rent
dorms and lecture halls. some of you have connections but we can also
call other schools but most are in the burbs a bit. but what about
tufts? it isn't far from davis sq. which is good. also lesley college
has this page:
http://www.lesley.edu/public_affairs/events_office.html
which says they rent out for conferences. but they only mention lecture
halls up to 180 seats and yapc will need at least one of 300 or more.
so an easy thing to do is to search the local college sites for similar
pages and see what is out there. then call someone and get some more
info. this is something anyone (even kripa! :) can do. in fact can
someone call the lesley contact on that page and see if they have larger
rooms and would be open for a yapc. i would call but i am gone
tomorrow. hosting yapc just outside harvard sq would be great for many
reasons (other than no local parking :( ).
