Joseph,
Thanks for getting me straight. Smile.

Well I need a male side to go into my computer because both the ports on my PC are female. Do they make such an adapter?

Or with this USB converter, do you think my BN will work as a Braille display? Thanks for all help.

Sharondha,
The serial port on your unit must be a male plug, and the other end must be
male as well. The port that is female on the PC end, but it has same
appearance as serial port, is the VGA monitor port. The serial cable that
came with your unit is a female cable, where it has female plugs on both
ends. Somebody also mentioned a USB to RS232 (serial) adapter a few days ago
(I've forgot about it).

Setting up the Braille display (Terminal for Screen Readers) is in 2.9 of
the manual. I am very aware how to set it up. However, my question has to do
with the serial adapter and/or converting serial to USB and the display
still working. This is not covered, as far as I can see. Thanks for all
help.

Brendon, Sharondha, and others,
Brendon, just for your information: before we use any software or
hardware,
we ned to configure to meet our demands. At this situaiton, if you are
using
a screen reader, you need to tell the screen reader (there should be a
place
to do it) that you want the screen reader to output the display to your
BrailleNote. And then you connect the cable, and you tell the BrailleNote
that you wish to go to terminal for screen reader.

I don't know the answer to your question but have you tried just hooking
your bn up to the pc its self?

Hi all,
I want to use my BN as a braille display for my computer. I have so
questions.

1. My Serial port on my computer is a male, like the one on the BN. Is
there
such a thing to change the cord that came with the BN to work with a 25
female serial port? (If I'm wrong about male/female, let me know) 2. Could

I
buy a serial to USB converter and my BN work as a braille display?
3. If so, what kind should I look for?

Thanks for writing back with all help.
Take care,
