Rose, great post.  I don't think anyone could have said it better.  

Only thing I disagree with is the timing issue.  I don't think
whomever it is in the timeing department consulted a calendar for the
U.S. or for Canada.  If they had, they would have realized that this
would not be the best day to release a new upgrade.  It may be that
they decided to release it on the 31st of August in the hope that
people who are paying for Internet access which requires SSL would be
able to pay for that access and really be able to take advantage of
it.  I think the word here is SNAFU.  It's a bureaucratic hazard,
especially with companies that span not just countries but continents
.
