OK, I reset the high limit switch. I also fiddled with the black wire
attached to the sensor in the boiler;
I didn't think it was shorting, but maybe the wire is broken or
something wiggling it temporarily fixed things.
Either way...the machine heated up. Perfect--95. I draw water thru the
group head, makes a groaning sound like it is trying to prime the
pump. Then it catches and sound normal, water thru group head.
3-5 minutes later I recheck it, E1 error. Can't remember what I did
next, I may have turned it of and then on again.
Temp comes back to 95.
Turn it off, put it on the timer for the morning, say a little prayer
that night.

Next morning at 0630 machine is on and temp reads 95. Great, finally I
can skip the coffee run.
30 min later, after some chores, machine now reads 75. the LED shows
the little red light is on.
I run water thru the group head (several ounces), no temp increase but
the big red light on the right side goes on. Pump runs.
Temp decreases to 72. Pressure stays in normal range.
I wait, the temp isn't increasing, big red light goes off.
I run water thru the water wand.
as usual, the pressure starts dropping to 0.3
the red lite on the LED is still on the big red light is still on
No temp change still 72
I let the pressure go back to normal
I run water thru the grouphead, temp is 71
big lite is on
Temp never heads back up and I just turned it off
The red light on the LED never goes off, and there is never more than
the one light on the LED
I think this is how it usually is, I think thats normal?

So I'll recheck the boiler sensor and wiring
I am so frustrated...
