One reason I wanted to an accurate temperature readout is that many of the top coffee roasters, like Paradise and Intelligentsia, are now starting to recommend different brew tempertures for different espresso blends that they offer. When I tried their recommended temperatures, I got very bitter shots. I now suspect that my temp gauge is reading approximately 5 degrees low based on the temperatures I am pulling my best shots and comparing that number to the roasters recommendations.
I was curious about other BII owners experiences and wondering if they had calibrated their BII's with a Stace (very expensive) or some other device. I have an offset setting of -7 now. What number should I use to correct for the 5 degree error? Should it be -2?
