Hi Todd,
I'm not surprised to hear from you that every Expobar machine is tested, Whole Latte Love stands up to their reputation as usual. And I was expecting my espresso machine provider to test at least some of their units they were receiving, so I was a bit surprised when I asked the salesperson to tell me about the new insulation when they received a batch of new ones(maybe 10 or 12 units), and he told me he didn't know, because every unit ordered by customers came in and left right away to their final destination. It is unusual(IMHO) not to open even one box to take a look at it, especially since there are modifications to the Brewtus. It is then you realize the professionalism of some company versus others. I wanted first to go with WLL, I even called to get information but since I'm in Canada, shipping would have been expensive and the customs would have eaten my wallet for sure.. During the design phase we worked very closely and all of the major updates that are used throughout the world were my ideas and then were a collaboration between myself and Expobar. We even came up with the name...and I like it:-) Every Expobar machines that gets sent from Whole Latte Love is throughouly tested and adjusted to make sure it is perfect. We are not receiving any machines with the insulation you are talking about. The USA/110 Volt machines have the blue display as per my request. You will soon start to see the blue displays showing up in specific European markets. Hope this helps clear things up. Todd Salzman Wholelattelove Stogie Since I am in the US, I can not talk to the models being distributed in Europe. I can say that I haven't seen anything like the situation you are describing. I have always envied the 220 machines you guys get, but it look like their are some advantages to being in a country that requires a special version: our 120 puppies. One of the nice things about having the original concept driven by the US distributor for Expobar (Whole Latte Love) is that the machines that come into the US must be consistent with his specifications. He opens one or more samples from each shipment and checks it VERY thoroughly to be sure that nothing inappropriate has been done to the machine. I haven't seen anything like the insulation you are describing on any of the machines that I have seen recently. However, I haven't seen a brand new one in over six months, so perhaps Todd could confirm whether the US is getting any of these strange things. The Spanish factory seems a little stressed... It is definitely the latest model but in my case the PID is still/again red. I heard these changes in model configuration happen more often than expeted... When I lifted the lid for the first time I saw a really nasty boiler appearance with a melted insulation as well... Do your boilers look like rusty and dirty, too? I have complained to the seller but he states this is always the case with the boilers and referred to the somewhat cheaper price compared to other Dualboilers. He has a good reputation among the German coffee forums and I will now have them polished, insulated with better material and also the steam boiler will get a separate switch. Here is a link to the guys webpage gallery where you can see his "pimp my Brewtus" work. How do you upload pics and where do you store them in this group? I haven't been able to find the ones you mentioned in your posting...
