Todd, not sure if you recall that I had similar problems (not exactly but 
close) and we changed pumps three times before settling on the OPV.  The 
puck-flip thing solved it immediately, but my symptoms were having pressure 
drop, not build.  I bet he finds scale in the OPV and can cure it with a quick 
clean with a brass brush, combined with flipping the puck to create a good seal 
again in the OPV.
 
By the way, what is the "air remover"?
