Perhaps the good news is that the part is relatively inexpensive and 
hopefully easy to fix. I actually have exactly that same problem except my 
vacuum breaker is not as in bad shape as yours. I am getting some hissing 
and that's it. Still, it affects the temperature significantly. Pulling one 
shot causes the temperature to drop a degree or two Celsius. I will also 
need to order the same part. In the mean time I'm going to remove the part 
tonight and see if it can be solved by cleaning it as was suggested in my 
other thread. 

As for the leaking with the machine off, yes it would be great if it would 
not do that. I too have my Brewtus IV-R plumbed in and have the pressure 
reducer. The only way to guarantee no leaking I suppose would be to turn 
off the water shut off valve which I'm sure you installed. Of course if you 
are removing anything from the boilers, you would need to shut the water 
supply off as I learned earlier.
