 Update:

I checked the pressure reducer guage and it was up around 30 psi. Higher
than I had set it originally 2 years ago. Maybe the local water supply has
upped the pressure for the coming summer demand? Anyway, I lowered the
setting to 20PSI and turned on the Brewtus.
Water started to leak from the vac valve when the water was turned on, so I
held up the center pin with pliers until the pressure came up. Then once it
held, I opened the hot water and let water escape. . Then as pressure built
back up, the steam drove the vac valve closed and all was perfect. I let it
run for hours. I made lattes, etc. I cycled it off and back on. The valve
worked perfectly. My guess is that the pressure came up and caused the
steam boiler to overfil and water bypassed the the vac valve. It seems to
be designed to close with steam pressure and not water pressure. I am going
to keep an eye on the pressure reducer guage and monitor things. I am going
to replace the vac valve when the new one comes in. I am going to shut off
the water to the Brewtus whenever I go out of town. If it does it again, I
am going to place a 3 gallon carboy under the cabinet and let the Brewtus
pull from that. Then I will just have to refil it from my filtered water
supply once a month or so. That way there is no positive pressure on the
Brewtus which should keep that from happening again. But as of right now,
all is perfect in my little home espresso bar agian... :) Watch that
water pressure!
