Sorry I didn't respond to this sooner.

Honestly, I think the bigger problem is damage to what is next to the machine.  
I had mine under a cabinet with maybe 1cm over the top, and the plastic 
laminate on the cabinet peeled off.  The machine was fine in that space for 7 
years, and it is on from 5AM or so until 8PM or so every day.

You can get small, soft fans and one of these would be perfect to move air 
around the machine if you wanted to keep it a little cooler.

I know this one is for 120V, but you will get the idea and maybe can find 
something similar:
