I have varied the grind and changed to a calibrated tamp, but never reach the 
quality of the old shots.  Not sure what to try next.

How many grams/shot are you using generally?

I upgraded to a Kafatek and it made a world of difference. I have a BII and a 
GS3 with the manometer and you'd be hard pressed to decide which is the better 
cup.
