sorry, i was unclear. I was meaning right vs left,
conservatism vs idealism. of course conservatives
have ideals, just as idealists will forego their grand
plans sometimes in favor of the current reality.

I consider myself more or less moderate, just with
more right leanings than left. extremists of any
stripe are much more separated from reality imo. My
point was that conservatism means dealing with reality
directly, while idealism requires developing your own
'future truth' as a goal and proceeding from there.
