Van Buren was voted out in 1840. The first president to die in office
was William Henry Harrison, elected in 1840. The way I've heard it
phrased is that every President elected in a year ending in "0" from
Harrison to Kennedy has died in office.

Um, the Bills will have played more games than just 3 by Halloween. So
I'm not going to take that bet. :)
As far as history repeating itself and football-related stuff, for over
half a century the last home game of the Washington Redskins has
predicted the presidential election: if the Redskins win, the party
currently holding the White House wins, if they lose, the other party
wins the White House. This past election didn't break that correlation.
