There will probably not be many willing to die for Saddam Hussein, but there might be enough people willing to die to keep the Evil Imperialist Empire out. Sending in the troops on the assumption that there will not be much resistance is about the most stupid thing any military commander can do. Many a military commander in history expected little resistance, then saw his forces slaughtered, and only then learned that underestimating your enemy is usually a fatal mistake.
