However, The Nation is not "the most important magazine of the left." It has a tiny circulation. I can't even remember the last time I snuck a peak at it. The magazines I read with political content are The American Prospect, The Washington Monthly, Dissent, and Tikkun. I'd say any of them has more influence among liberal and left-leaning people than The Nation.
As for the right denouncing Ann Coulter, I guess you haven't been watching Fox News Channel recently, where she is a heroine. And that reaches far more Americans than the National Review.
