I think he didn't grow up in as much priviledge as some of our other
recent presidents. I think that he's known what it is to be poor. And
from things I've heard over the years, he went into the presidency with
less in personal financial resources than a good number of other
late-20th-century presidents; but I don't have a cite for that, and the
information might be incorrect.
