The BULA system *complicated*? I think what you're really complaining about
is that it takes someone to be prepared and bring a score sheet and pencil.
Or are you seriously telling me that you think answering eight questions
about each team is complicated? Say compared to the rules of our sport ;-)

I've been collating spirit scores for London Summer League, where we're
using the new spirit scoring system. Obviously there are various reasons
why a league might be more suited to the BULA system, but ignoring
that... my experience so far is that the scores are more varied than on
previous scoring systems I've used - my experience before was that spirit
scores were always clustered. I think varied spirit scores means we're more
likely to get fair winners on Spirit (assuming that we can still convince
people to hand in the scores at all!). Talking to a couple of the more
inexperienced captains, they're finding it quite useful to structure their
spirit, and it also means you can submit spirit scores for each match
independently (as opposed to a comparison system where you need to remember
all your games and then choose the best spirited ones)

As for the comment about out of 16 being too many points. We're still
getting people who can't cope and have to give half marks... Sigh :-)
